Most promotions are late.

The work happens first: quietly, informally, without a title change. CareerFundi helps you get the job, the title and the pay your work deserves, with career strategy from someone who has sat on both sides of the hiring table.

CareerFundi | Get hired. Get promoted. Lead well.

The gap isn't in the person. It's in how we prepare them.

Ask about First 90 Days

Not sure you want to manage people at all? That's a valid answer. Leadership is a whole-life decision, not just a career move. If the desire isn't there yet, do the work you love and get paid what you deserve. I can help you position yourself for that too.

Two traps I see again and again.

Both come from years of leading teams, and then advising the managers who lead them.

The Promotion Trap. An individual contributor spends 100% of their time doing. A junior manager spends 80% doing and growing their craft, and 20% leading people. A middle or senior manager spends 60% doing, 20% leading people and 20% on process, analytics and reporting.
The Promotion TrapThe skills that got you promoted can start working against you. The doing never stops, but it has to evolve.
The Silence Trap. A small incident, the manager stays silent, it happens again, resentment builds, until the manager tells HR 'I just need them gone.' The better path: address it early, engage HR early, build a healthy team culture.
The Silence TrapThe conversation you're avoiding was never about being difficult. It was about doing your job.

Are you already doing the job nobody has named yet?

Seven questions, five minutes. See what you're already carrying, what still needs work, and whether it's time to have the conversation.

About Fundi

I was almost 23. Already a manager. And completely terrified.

Fundiswa Yuba, founder of CareerFundi. A decade in operations, a decade in HR, and leading people since 2008.

I was leading the same people who had trained me, in a management team where every peer was at least 40. So I did what had always worked: I doubled down on doing. I worked hard. I was defensive. And it wasn't working.

What changed things was support: a manager who called me into order, a colleague who brought me along, and years of mentoring, coaching and development. Some things needed time. Some needed coaching. Some needed professional development.

I spent my first decade in operations, in shipping and logistics and then telecommunications, hiring and leading teams myself. For the last ten years I've worked in HR, across engineering and manufacturing, financial services, technology and global health. I've sat on both sides of the table, and I've been the HR person across from a manager saying "I just need them gone", months after a conversation they avoided.

That clarity cost me 20 years of mistakes and learning. CareerFundi exists so it doesn't have to cost you the same.

Questions people ask

Is it confidential?

Yes. Your employer won't know we're working together unless you tell them. What you share stays between us.

I'm not in Gauteng. Can we still work together?

Yes. Sessions happen by video call and WhatsApp, so you can be anywhere in South Africa.

Do you guarantee a job or a promotion?

No, and nobody honestly can. Hiring and promotion decisions belong to employers. What I can promise is that you'll go into those decisions better prepared, with a clearer case and a stronger CV.

What if I don't want to manage people?

That's a valid choice, and more common than people admit. We can focus on growing your expertise and getting paid what you're worth instead of chasing a management title.

How do I pay?

By EFT, before your first session. You'll receive an invoice with the banking details.
